The word blog derives from weB Log. The original purpose of a blog was for a few geeks to post about their daily life and share photos of their families.

Nowadays blogs are management systems that deliver content to websites. They are also an easy platform to launch an internet marketing career. Through a blog the person can create a brand and engage with the customers. There are niche specific blogs that are informative and create a great following.

Normally people chose to have a personal blog or a business blog or both.

A blogger can also comment on other blogs to drive traffic to his blog, by posting a link after his comment. The mistake many bloggers commit is to link from their comments to a sales page or an affiliate link. That is a sure way of having your comments marked as spam!

Other ways of engaging the audience would be to make guests post in another blog that matches the niche. There are many bloggers hungry for content and will welcome your approach to make guest posts.

Blogs postings seem to be between 200 and 500 words, but there are articles a lot longer than the 500 words where the topic merits an extended blog posting.

There seems to be two schools of thoughts regarding how often one has to post on the blog. Some advocate regularly, for example some actually say you must post on the blog two specific days a week , others just regularly and it is what one understands as regularly. Others believe that the posts should be when the blogger feels he has something important to tell his audience.

Google (the major search engine) loves fresh content but also loves quality content, so the blog should be a balance between regular posting and quality.

On a personal note my intention for this blog is to offer advice, tell histories and sometimes have a little fun therefore it will be a mixture of business/personal. Hopefully it will reflect both my internet business and lifestyle.

It will be the platform that will define all my internet marketing activity. I will also recommend websites and other blogs that interest me.
